Washington Co. Sheriff’s are continuing to investigate the double-murder-suicide that happened Tuesday evening in Chipley.
According to reports, at approximately 5:24 p.m. Tuesday, the Washington Co. Sheriff’s office responded to a call at the Spanish Trail mobile home park, located a few miles east of Chipley.
Details in this case continue to emerge; however, 47-year-old John Henry Turner Jr., apparently became outraged after his vehicle wouldn’t start. He allegedly grabbed a 12-gauge shot gun and shot the windshield of his car, walked into his mobile home and shot the television.
His girlfriend of three years, 50-year-old Roselyn Ann Jackson, and her three grandkids, were at the mobile home during this time. At some point, Jackson sent her grandkids to a neighbor’s house to call 911 and seek refuge. Officials indicate Turner then shot and killed Jackson.
Investigators believe Turner walked over to his neighbor’s mobile home; upon answering the door, shot and killed 18-year-old Stephanie Diane Hysmith.
Turner walked back to his mobile home, lit it on fire, then shot and killed himself.
Investigators did say they are questioning Turner's mental state. Reports indicate he had a few misdemeanors in Florida, and additionally, robbery charges in either California or Ohio.
