The town of New Brockton is discussing the possibility of bringing back a municipal court.
Some council members hope the court will make money for the town of New Brockton while others say the town isn't big enough for a court to justify expenses for a municipal court.
"It's a misdemeanor court for cases less than 500 dollars or no more than a six month jail term and those are revenues that the town of New Brockton is currently losing to district court," says New Brockton Mayor Lenwood Herron.
"With municipal court you have to hire a magistrate, a court clerk and then a prosecuter and anything that comes around with it. We get the money down together, it doesn't add up that we should have a municipal court in a small town," says District 3 Councilman Douglas Pittman.
The discussion has been sent back to a working session on July 20th.
