Alabama state troopers are reporting at least eight traffic deaths on Alabama's rural roads over the weekend.

The toll includes an Etowah County couple who died Sunday in a one-vehicle accident at the 110 Alabama Adventure Parkway Exit of Interstate 59 in Bessemer.

Bessemer Police said the vehicle ran off the interstate about 2:40 pm and overturned several times in the median. 58-year-old Ronald Kitchens of Southside and his wife, 57-year-old Charmaine Kitchens were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police in Millbrook say a man was struck and killed Friday night on a city street. Officers said the man was in his 30s, but declined to release his name.

In Macon County, troopers said 51-year-old James Lawler of Tuskegee was killed Friday night when the vehicle he was driving ran off County Road 59 and struck a tree. The crash occurred about a half mile from Notasulga.

Other deadly accidents were reported in Baldwin, Marengo, Shelby and Lamar counties.
