PRESS RELEASE FROM ALABAMA STATE TROOPERS:
Headland, AL - A single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning proved fatal to a Newville man. James Bert Brantley, 42, of Newville, was traveling north on County Road 33 in Henry County when the 1994 Mercedes he was driving ran off the road, struck a drainage pipe and overturned. The crash occurred at 2:20 a.m. about 1/2 mile north of Headland. Mr. Brantley, the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle on impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Henry County Coroner Derek Wright. Alcohol is believed to be a factor, and Troopers continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
