LINCOLN, Ala. (AP) - Honda Manufacturing of Alabama has gotten
the green light to begin work on a 64-and-a-half million dollar
expansion project.
Monday night, the Talladega County Commission approved a tax abatement plan for sales and use taxes for the automaker.
Honda spokesman Mark Morrison said an additional 27-thousand square feet will be built to house a steel banking facility at the Lincoln site.
The addition will mean 20 new jobs.
Honda already employs more than 45-hundred employees and manufactures more than 300-thousand vehicles annually.
Morrison said construction begins next month and could be completed sometime in 2009.
Since October 2006, Honda has invested over 100 million dollars at its auto assembly plant.
