River Level Notes---
River Level Forecasts are good but not exact and are revised often. These forecasts usually include expected rainfall 24 hours ahead.
The short term fluctuations along the Chattahoochee River at George, Columbia, and Woodruff dams reflect water flow regulation to control river levels on locations downstream, including Blountstown and other locations on the Apalachicola River...

When Floodwaters are occurring -
Important Flood and Health Considerations-----
Areas on the same river away from the aforementioned locations may see significant differences in Flood Stage.
Streams may cause significant lowland (floodplain) flooding and pose serious risks to cattle and other livestock as well as nearby dwellings.
Locations near and downstream of dams may see significant level changes (up or down) within a short period of time.
A sudden obstruction by a large object or group of objects may cause a quick and significant rise in river level just upstream of the blockage.
>>>>>
A Cautionary Note-----
Floodwaters are not your typically dirty water..In fact they probably contain many - if not all - of the following ingredients:
Sewage, dead animals or parts, decomposing vegetative matter, large and sharp pieces of trees and construction materials, industrial chemicals, viruses, bacteria, and live fire ants, snakes, alligators.
Anyone in contact with floodwater should consult qualified medical personnel about the need for a tetanus shot.
Be careful about working in closed areas around abundant mold and mildew.
