An SUV starts to take the curve on South Bogan Road in Buford near the intersection of Quail Creek Drive on Tuesday. Nearby residents complain of county inaction involving what they call a very dangerous stretch of Bogan Road. Their concerns were exacerbated recently when an 18-year-old Buford football player died in a single-vehicle crash.

Officials with Houston County Road and Bridge are making sure road ways are safe.

Since one o’clock Thursday afternoon workers have been spreading rock salt on 77 bridges throughout Houston County.

Because of the potential rain for Thursday evening and the frigid temperatures, workers want to make sure roads are safe in case of rain freezing on roads.

This is the first time this season workers have prepared the roads.
