SFC Philip Stowe, a Wounded Warrior, says, "I got deployed to Iraq, served there for about nine months and then I got into gun battle and during the fight I got hit by an RPG."

SSG Heather Bailey says, "… hit an IED roadside bomb, I was the gunner at the time, and I was thrown from the vehicle and broke my back, fractured vertebrae."

SPC Casey Seewright says, "I finished the deployment and had no idea I had PTSD."

All three of these soldiers may have experienced different traumas, but they're all coping with the help of the Wounded Warriors Program.

Bailey says, “I had nothing when I came back, I mean I literally came back just me, I had nothing and I received help, clothes, shoes and movies, games, books and things that just keep you occupied and what you're going through.”

Fort Rucker’s formerly wounded soldiers now have a chance to help those just returning with a turkey shoot fundraiser.

LTC Shawn Prickett says, "I think it's important that we recognize the sacrifices that specifically the wounded warriors have and there's no better cause in my opinion than to recognize those people who have been wounded and have sacrificed so much."

Soldiers hope to raise $20,000 with the turkey shoot. All proceeds will go to the National Program to Continue Helping Soldiers. It’s another lighthearted plus to the fundraiser. A guest mini-concert will be given by country artist John Anderson, something welcoming for soldiers who have already endured so much.

Seewright says, "I don't think my life was going in a very good direction before I got help, so I am just happy I did."

The turkey shoot is open to the public. It is going on until Saturday. If you would like to sign up you can do so at west beach Lake Talaca.
