Two Vietnam veterans were honored Monday afternoon at Fort Rucker in a new housing area on the post.

Gary Wetzel and Patrick Brady are both Medal of Honor recipients and they share names with intersecting roads in Fort Rucker.

Brady rescued 51 friendly soldiers in Vietnam in one day while flying three different helicopters.

Wetzel survived a helicopter crash but lost his arm in the process, while losing blood he clawed his way to a machine gun to fight off enemy troops.

Monday’s ceremony was the first of many street dedications for Fort Rucker’s new housing area.
