Alabama's top prosecutor says he is totally opposed to any form of gambling.

State Attorney General Troy King fears that electronic bingo can eventually lead to something like the legal casinos in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Although the Elba native says he personally hates the thought of any gambling, he will not get involved in the Country Crossing controversy.

King believes the bingo proceeds earmarked for charity will be outweighed by the social and moral cost.

So, this moral puritan is opposed to gambling (which is his right) and wants to IMPOSE his own beliefs on the rest of the citizens in the state. That's not freedom. Let everyone in Alabama make up their own minds as to how they want to spend their time entertainment dollars. I am so sick and tired of these moralists deciding what is "good" and "bad" for the rest of us.

I thought, and was obviously mistaken, that people got to vote pro or con on issues such as this. Didn't some of the people who owned Hunt's get into serious trouble over gambling machines ??? And doesn't electronic bingo fit that category?? Oh, well, since I'm old and addled maybe I disremember. Looks like the fox will find his way into this tempting and delectable henhouse. That's not to say he won't step into a baited trap !!!

ELECTRONIC BINGO SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT IS VOTED ON BY THE PEOPLE. LET THE RESIDENTS AND PEOPLE THAT IT WILL EFFECT ACTUALLY MAKE THE DECISION. POLITICIANS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO DECIDE BASED UPON THEIR VIEWS ONLY. GOVERNMENT MAKES MORE THAN ENOUGH DECISIONS FOR THE PEOPLE. LET THE PEOPLE VOTE!!!

To Mr Troy King, You are not the only one who lives in Alabama we have a right to our say and my Families say is: we want it and need it here.More people wants it than don't. If all you people have money to bring in jobs and more taxes to pay here in Alabama so the roads, bridges and so on can be fixed the put your money where your mouth is.With all due respect.
