The Recycling Pilot Program that the city of Dothan has been planning is going to be taking place a little later than expected.

The program was supposed to kick off this June, but now, is expected to start in July.

It turns out, the truck has been delayed for a month because of body modifications the manufacturer needs to take care of.

The truck is going to be able to function on both sides so that two drivers can work together.

City Manager Mike West says he hopes recycling will save landfill space. "Recycling here makes a lot of sense and when that landfill is full, it’s going to make sense around here."

The city hopes that eventually, at least 50 percent of Dothan households will recycle.
