Neighbors say the Harold Todd they know seems like a decent guy who spent a lot of time working in his yard. The fact that he's accused of committing a murder takes them by surprise.

The quiet community of Beulah, located just south of Opp, is still reeling from a murder that left one woman dead.

Investigators say Harold Todd shot and killed a woman that lived with him for many years on Clark Road. She was found in the living room of the home they shared, dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

While a motive is not clear in this case, authorities say it is clear that Todd is well aware of the murder charge against him.

“He acknowledged what had occurred; he was in fact the perpetrator of the crime. He was very calm but he was coming to grips with what had happened.”

Todd is being held in the Covington County Jail on a half-million dollars bond. He is expected to make his first court appearance sometime before Wednesday.

Covington County sheriff's investigators are not releasing the name of the victim until next of kin can be notified and they tell us they're having trouble finding her relatives. They're hoping someone will contact them with information that will help them to get in touch with the victim's family.

This is the first murder in Covington County this year.

It doesn't matter that this woman was a pain in the butt as descibed. It didn't give this man the right to kill her. He has been descibed as an irritable type person that is easily angered. It's scary to think that anyone could actually justify what he did. I just hope that people with that way of thinking are not selected as jurors when trial time rolls around. He just better hope that I'm not on the jury!!

I'm glad you're friends with a murderer...good for you. i guess you're lucky it wasnt you. I hope they get this guy (who happened to be a big time jerk by the way) and give him the same consideration he gave to her...you always have the option to walk away...not be violent..my mother wont get another aunt!! shame on you!
