The Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce held an informal meeting Monday morning to give an update on local projects.

There has been speculation that it would involve a toll road to Bay County, Florida.

The chamber of commerce and Luther Strange who is acting as a lawyer on the issue announced that they had plans for a toll road connecting Midland City to Panama City.

Meeting attendees included Mayor Pat Thomas, Houston County Commission Chairman, Mark Culver and the President of Florida’s Great Northwest, Al Wenstrand.

The toll road will be a public-private funded project.

Officials say that 30 years after the road has been completed it will become property of the counties.

The panel estimates that the project will be completed within five years.
