A grand opening celebration was held Saturday for the Gussie McMillon Park.

The park is located at the corner of Shirley and Pryor Street.

Gussie McMillon was the first African-American female principal in Dothan and the park was named after her as an example that all things are possible.

There were activities provided by several area businesses including the Alfred Saliba Family Services Center and Ray's Restaurant.

The City of Dothan was allocated $100,000 of Community Development Block Grant money to fund costs for the park.
