Concerned pet owners held a meeting to discuss disputing options for the new Dothan pet ordinance at the Golden Corral in Dothan.

The final meeting of Dothan’s animal control ordinance committee was last Monday.

Citizens will have an opportunity to voice their opinion when the ordinance goes before the city commission next week.

The new proposed ordinance would require pet owners to pay to register, have their pets licensed and get their pets fixed.

Opponents say they are urging fellow pet owners who are against the ordinance to sign a petition.
