TROY, Ala. (AP) - A Pike County teenager is in jail after authorities charged him in the assault of a 21-year-old woman and her unborn child in a two-vehicle crash near Troy.

Alabama Highway Patrol Sergeant Scott Brasher says 19-year-old Markice Crenshaw of Goshen turned himself in to authorities Tuesday after learning he was wanted on arrest warrants.

State troopers charged Crenshaw with assaulting Victoria Denise Greenwood of Troy, along with the two passengers in her car on Monday.

Alabama Highway Patrol Captain Ricky Peak says Greenwood remains in a Montgomery hospital. Pike County Coroner Jerry Williams says her unborn child died.

Crenshaw is charged with murder, two counts of first-degree assault, second degree assault and leaving the scene of an accident.

Pike County District Attorney Gary McAiley says Crenshaw and Greenwood know each other.
