Chris Trant has had cataracts for a while now and she says it has put a limit to her everyday routines.

He says, "It's there and it’s just constantly an aggravation, that's what it is and it will be a relief to have it gone."

And by the end of the day it will be, thanks to the gift of sight program.

Eye Center South has been taking part in the program for 15 years, helping patients that are less fortunate regain their sight, free of cost.

William says, "It's a blessing for me, I mean, the Lord's blessed me in so many ways and I'm just glad I can give something back, something as important as sight.”

The surgery is not only a gift for the patients, its also gratifying for the doctors.

Marnix says, "I operated on an elderly grandmother who hadn't seen for many, many years and after the surgery she first saw her grandchild that she had never seen before."

The surgery not only gives sight back to the patients but also a new sense of freedom.

Chris says, "I can go back to helping the people that go to the church with me, I help them out and I enjoy doing that."

The generosity of others will give patients like Chris the opportunity to enjoy daily activities that many of us take for granted.

Chris says, "That is the first thing, I will praise my Lord, and after that I'm probably going to run around Slocomb screaming and hollering, they'll know I'm back on the road again."
