Parents, do your research. This artlcle completely oversimplifies the idea of private cord blood banking. It can be expensive, with costs at the time your child is born and afterwards for storage...and there are not clear cut guidelines about collection and storage of cord blood. So there are many companies that are entering this business and using high pressure tactics when parents are stressed and vulnerable--namely they are in the hospital and hours away from birth.
