LOXLEY, Ala. (AP) - Five Girl Scouts returning from a kayaking trip were injured - two seriously - when their van struck a guardrail on Interstate 10 near Mobile.

All were transported to the University of South Alabama Medical Center, including two by helicopter, according to state trooper spokesman Cpl. Joe Pigott, who said the accident happened near Loxley about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The van driver was identified as Scout counselor Kristen Robinson, 21.

Robinson and 11-year-old Savannah Agell, both of Mobile, were airlifted to the hospital in serious condition.

Katelyn Burk, 17, Rebecca Eversole, 21, and Erica Eversole, 14, all also of Mobile, were taken by ambulance to the hospital where they were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said Thursday.

Two 13-year-olds, Christina Irion and Kayli Pledger, both of Spanish Fort, were also in the 2002 Honda Odyssey, but were not injured, troopers said.

The girls were from different troops and had attended a summer camp.

Pigott said an investigation into the crash continues.
