Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, has been recognized as one of the nations top 100 leaders in cardiovascular care.

The highly prestigious recognition comes from Solucient, a research firm that conducts studies to identify high performance cardiovascular hospitals nationwide.

According to hospital officials, this in turn sets performance standards for other care and hospital management facilities across the board.

"Well, they look at a lot of national information, something called, 'Med-Par' data, which is Medicare Information and a lot of the information that hospitals file every year to various entities and they analyze that information and determined that using a lot of different criteria, we're among the best in the nation" Rick Smith, the Vice President of Public Relations says

The medical center's cardiology unit currently employs, eight cardiologist, three surgeons, and one vascular surgeon.

About 450 patients are cared for annually.
