Northwest Florida authorities are investigating the death of a prison inmate at the Jackson County Correctional Facility.
Emergency workers responded to a report of a 44-year-old unresponsive female inmate.
Lori Edenfield's cellmate tried to wake her up for breakfast, but was unsuccessful.
Jail staff used an automatic external deliberator to try and jump start her heart, but to no avail.
She was pronounced dead about 5 a.m.
The Marianna Police Department is investigating.
Edenfeld's body is being sent to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
