New lockers, new shoes, and a new uniform.

"At first I didn't like the idea but I'm getting better on it, I really do like it because nobody gets made fun of or anything and it's easy to pick out your clothes in the morning now."

Seventh grader Katherine Bullack is among hundreds of students whose wardrobe has changed at school. Charles Henderson Middle School began its first day implementing new school uniforms. And the response Principal Chresal Threadgill has received is remarkable.

"When I walked into the gym I was just amazed, my heart started fluttering, it just made me feel so good as a principal and an employee of Troy city schools for my students to look so good."

And students aren't the only ones taking on the polos and khakis. Teachers are trying the new uniforms on for size themselves.

"I think it's been great so far, I would say we've had 100 percent participation from the kids, I've heard no complaints."

Principal Threadgill says the uniforms are a way to allow students to concentrate more on their studies rather than the name brand their wearing. Many students would agree.

"All the kids that got picked on them anymore because everyone's wearing the same thing."

Making it easier for students like Bullack to have one less thing to worry about when going to school. Principal Threadgill says the atmosphere at the school is so different now. He says he feels like there is less pressure among the students.

Principal Threadgill says the support from parents and the community has been a major contributor to the change.
