    Authorities Arrest Four Suspects on Drug Charges Save Email Print

    Sheriff Will Maddox stated that on Friday September 12, 2008, the Henry County Sheriff’s Department arrested four suspects on drug related charges.

    Sheriff Maddox stated that Narcotics Investigators have been conducting an undercover operation over the past three months on 5 suspects. Sheriff Maddox stated that his Department has received numerous complaints from the public about illegal drug activity and that is what led to the undercover operation.

    Sheriff Maddox stated that early Friday morning, Deputies and Investigators with the Sheriff’s Department conducted a round up of the suspects and executed two search warrants. Arrested as a result of the Undercover Operation was Jamar Laquan Cooke, age 32, of County Road 29 Abbeville, Alabama.

    Cooke was charged with three counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance (crack cocaine). Ralph Thomas, age 52, of County Road 54 West Clopton, Alabama. Thomas was charged with five counts of Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance (crack cocaine). Anthony Lerone Blackmon, age 31, of County Road 79 Columbia, Alabama. Blackmon was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (crack cocaine). Daryl Ramon Wright, age 37, of 7585 County Road 46 Shorterville, Alabama. Wright was charged with Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance (crack cocaine).

    Sheriff Maddox stated that search warrants were executed at Cooke’s residence and Blackmon’s residence. Sheriff Maddox stated that as a result of the search warrant, Cooke was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (crack cocaine), Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

    Seized as a result of the search warrant was Crack Cocaine, Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, a Kawasaki four wheeler, and $836.00 in U.S. Currency. Blackmon was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

    Blackmon also has pending Federal Weapons charges, due to the fact that Blackmon is a convicted felon and was in possession of several firearms at the time of his arrest. Seized as a result of the search warrant was Cocaine, Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, a 2005 Chrysler 300M vehicle, over $800.00 in U.S. Currency, one pistol, and two shotguns.

    All suspects made their first appearance before District Judge Derek Peterson on Friday. Cooke was booked into the Henry County Jail on bonds totaling $351,000, Blackmon was booked into the Henry County Jail on bonds totaling $370,000, Thomas was booked into the Henry County Jail on bonds totaling $150,000, and Wright was booked into the Henry County Jail on bonds totaling $20,000.

    Sheriff Maddox stated that one suspect is at large and is wanted by the Henry County Sheriff’s Department. Jeremy Devence Blackmon, age 25, of 260 County Road 189 Shorterville, Alabama is wanted for Unlawful Distribution of a Controlled Substance.
