A fire safety seminar is being held this weekend at Home Depot in Dothan. It’s geared toward teaching children the importance of fire safety. The event is Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.

"Smokey the Bear" will make an appearance and each child will have the opportunity to build his own fire truck to take home.

Forestry Specialist Todd Taggart said, "It's so important we save our natural resources and teach kids early what to play with and what to not light."

The Houston County Sheriff's Office will there to administer child identification kits.

The Dothan Fire Department will also have their smoke house trailer to teach children how to escape from a burning building safely.
