A meeting is held informing local retailers about the upcoming tax free holiday.

The holiday kicks off Friday, August 4 and continues through August 6, ending at midnight.

Tax free items include clothing costing less than $100 per item, school supply items costing $50 or less, and computer equipment costing $750 or less.

Thursday's seminar gave local businesses the chance to get answers to any questions they had about the new holiday.

City Commissioner District Jason Rudd said, “Retailers are confused about what can be taxed and what cannot and today we defined what is, like clothing. We're gonna clear up a lot of issues today.”

The Dothan city commission is considering holding another informational meeting about the tax holiday to make sure all local businesses are prepared for the expected increases in sales.
