Next week, Enterprise will hold a public forum on four-laning plans for State Highway 167.
The roadway stretches approximately 35-miles from Enterprise to Troy.
For more than a decade, Pike and Coffee County officials have placed a high priority in getting it widened. It would be used not only as a north-south hurricane evacuation route, but a business corridor.
Enterprise Mayor Kenneth Boswell says, “Number one is a hurricane evacuation route, and getting folks from the coast into the Wiregrass during a major storm. However, four-laning is very important for the future economic development of our region.”
Beginning 5:00 p.m. next Tuesday, a public forum on the four-laning of Highway 167 will be held at the Enterprise Recreation Center on Lee Street.
