Rehobeth, AL — A Sunday morning crash in Houston County proved fatal to a Headland woman and hospitalized two others.

Shaun T. Cast, 27, of Gordon, AL, was driving south on U.S. 231 in a 2001 Chevrolet Camaro when it was struck in the driver’s side by a 2003 Nissan Altima driven by Chelsie Erin Trammell, 20, of Cottonwood.

Cast’s vehicle spun counter-clockwise and overturned several times, landing upright off the roadway, rear-seat passenger, 34 year old Viviloid E. Prichard was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston County Assistant Coroner Ben Earnest.

Front-seat passenger Cody S. Braley, 21, of Midland City, and Cast were transported to SEAMC for treatment of injuries sustained in the 11:30 a.m. crash.

Trammell, who is believed to have been restrained, was also transported to SEAMC for treatment of her non-life threatening injuries. Although the investigation into the crash continues,

Troopers believe speed and failure to yield the right of way contributed to the crash that occurred at the 5.8 mile marker (four miles south of the Dothan City Limits).
