"Apparently they put up a pretty big fight to not get loaded," said Benny Pinckard,
But that did not stop the suspect or suspects from stealing Pinckards two two-year-old bramah bulls. The two rare bulls were stolen around 5:30 a.m. Monday.
“We came out to the barn here observed that the gates were open which is very unusual for the gates to be open and made the discovery that someone had come in here and stolen our black bramah bulls."
Pinckard says he's not the only victim of a recent rash of cattle crime. He says fellow farmers in Goshen and Brundidge have also been hit.
“There is a lot of livestock theft in and around Pike County."
Pinckard and his wife raised the bulls since they were calves. His bramah bulls are used for breeding.
“The setback and what this is going to do to the breeding program, the cattle that we intend to raise from these bulls you know all of that ramifications of that are yet to be seen.”
Not only do the Pinckards having to deal with the loss of their stolen cattle but now they have to deal with the extra stress of taking on the costs of all of their broken equipment.
There was a witness to the theft.
Pinckard says he received a phone call Monday morning from a co-worker asking why he was loading up his cattle of course it wasn't Pinckard, but the thief.
Authorities are hoping that may be able to help in the case.
If you have any information regarding these thefts call the Alabama Department of Agriculture at 1-800-642-7761.
