Officials in one Dale County city say it's critical to get federal dollars to upgrade the town water system.
Level Plains water superintendent Buddy Wilson says the objective is to replace two-inch with six-inch lines in one neighborhood and that would allow additional fire hydrants and improve overall service.
Unsuccessful last year, the city council has applied once again for a $200,000 dollar federal block grant.
Level Plains officials hope to get an answer on the water grant request sometime this summer or by the fall.
