DOTHAN — Alabama state troopers caution motorists to expect significant traffic congestion during the Bama Jam Music Festival scheduled for June 4-6 in Coffee County. Organizers of the festival say day-to-day traffic flow is down, but based on ticket sales, the event is expected to draw sizable crowds.

In conjunction with the festival, Dothan-area state troopers anticipate heavy traffic throughout the length of Alabama 167 in Coffee County. They urge motorists to obey all traffic laws and to demonstrate courtesy and patience to help ensure roadway safety.

Troopers will be stationed along highways to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow. Message boards and road signs will be posted along the primary concert highways for motorists’ benefit. Alternate routes will be provided for residential and beach traffic. Those not attending the festival can follow these signs to avoid heavy traffic. These alternate routes include US 331 south of Montgomery, US 231 through Dothan to Panama City, Fla., and Alabama 87 south of Troy through Elba.

Troopers will be looking for aggressive drivers, impaired drivers, and seatbelt law violators. They urge motorists to drive with extreme caution.
