Hundreds were on hand for the 65th anniversary of D-Day celebration in Bedford, Virginia Saturday.
Sixty-five years ago Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France. It was called D-Day.
With the youngest D-Day veteran turning 82 years old this year, the event held special significance at the D-Day memorial site.
This could possibly be the last major anniversary observed by D-Day veterans in this life.
Those attending today's event took time to honor these men and women who gave so much in the name of freedom.
As part of the National D-Day Memorial a four-day conference has been scheduled, aimed at recognizing our D-Day veterans, preserving their stories, and sharing the lessons and legacy of their accomplishments.
