A new group in Washington County is trying to bring economic development into the area.

The Washington County Citizens for Economic Growth is a committee of local business people.

Their goal is to boost the local economy and quality of life.

The group has planned an economic research survey to help guide its efforts.

One of the biggest issues it will be facing is the county's alcohol statutes to permit the sale of beer, wine, and alcohol.

"We know economic times are tight right now for everyone, and we need to bring business into our county. We need to have every opportunity and level the playing field so that other surrounding counties are not 5taking all the business away from us when we would have the same opportunity if our county was wet" says Sheran Whitaker, Chairperson of WCCEO

The group will have a meeting next Wednesday. 10:30 am At the dogs track in Ebro.

All are welcome to attend.
