A Southern Alabama man is dead after a single-vehicle crash Friday night in Geneva County.

According to the Alabama Department of Public Safety, it happened just before 8p.m. about one mile west of Taylor on Geneva County Road-68.

31-year-old Douglas Ryan Smith was traveling west in an SUV when he ran it off the road.

Investigators say smith was driving the car over the speed limit and tried bringing it back to the road, but lost control.

He rolled over several times and it eventually threw him from the car.

Mr. Smith was not wearing his seat belt and died on the scene.

Troopers say alcohol is believed to be a factor.
