The mayors from Enterprise, Ozark and Opp have returned from an economic development trip overseas with Alabama’s Governor Bob Riley.
During their first stop in France, the group focused their attention on the aerospace industry at the Paris Air Show.
While Enterprise Mayor Kenneth Boswell recognizes that the economy is slow right now, he's still making strides to further the aerospace industry in the city of progress.
"It's still very important for us to take and continue those relationships so when those international prospects want to come to Alabama they know we're still interested and we're still working very hard to get those people here to open their business and invest their money," said Boswell.
With training support, a good transportation system and a steady workforce, the general manager of a new company US Aero Services feels fortunate to be located in Enterprise.
"There is tremendous support from city officials in the state of Alabama to assist starting companies in the aerospace industry," said Hartwell B. Wilson with US Aero Services, Inc.
And the mayor says there are many advantages to having these companies here.
Mayor Boswell said, "It provides wonderful job opportunities for those seeking opportunities in that field. Not only that but the pay is very good. It allows that person whether it be a male or female to be able to provide a very good living for their family."
The aerospace industry provides more than just jobs to the area, it also gives a sense of pride to an aviation minded community.
"We’re providing good equipment to the war fighter that helps them to accomplish their mission," said Carlton Speigner with ALFAB.
That's why aviation is an obvious choice for continued growth.
The group also went to South Korea where they visited several different industries.
Mayor Boswell couldn't go into more detail about those but hopes to see visits soon for possibly new businesses from that area.
