Court systems in both Henry and Houston County can send girls to the facility and officials say this move is going to save you money.
After more than ten years of lobbying by politicians and court officials, the Wiregrass now has it's own home for troubled teenage girls.
Alabama representative Locy Baker said, “We had no facility for girls that provided counseling and guidance and plus they can stay home and the family can take part.”
Organizers say this new program will be much more effective than the past options.
Henry County District Judge Derek Peterson said, “We had to send female juveniles to days and most of the time, they came back and had been exposed to a lot of criminal activity and they came back worse.”
The home will provide much more than a detention facility for these girls in need.
Executive director of Sayla Therapeutic Resources Kelly Hollis said, “With our program, we not only work on self esteem and confidence with the girls, any type of stress management, behavior education but we also have counseling, individual, private and group.”
The girl's home offers better therapy for teens in trouble, and also offers tax payers a break.
Judge Peterson said, “Right now the cost of housing a female juvenile is about 100 dollars a day and by having this facility the tax payers will be able to avoid that and it won't cost them anything, it'll be funded by the state.”
The home can house a maximum of 26 girls between the ages of 12 and 19.
The girls' home is expecting its first clients to arrive next Friday.
