There was a transition of power Tuesday night in the circle city.
The new mayor and three new Dothan city commissioners were sworn into office at the Civic Center.
Mike Schmitz takes over as mayor and James Reading now represents district one.
Paul Lee begins his second term as district 3 commissioner
And district 5 commissioner Taylor Barbaree also begins his second term.
Mayor Schmitz says it's time to get down to business.
“Since we've been elected, we've talked about what we're going to do. Well I'm tired of talking. I'm ready to go to work. I believe in the old school. You bring the right attitude and you're willing to work hard, no matter what challenges may face us, we'll be OK," said mayor Schmitz.
Mayor Schmitz will begin his term next Monday.
