Dothan, AL- Friday morning, district 5 commissioner Taylor Barbaree revealed the plans for the newest library proposal to one of the more packed library committee meetings ever.
"This shows what we might be able to do with this property" Said Barbaree who showed the group the proposal that includes renovating the old library, as well as acquiring the entire block between West Burdeshaw Street and West Newton street.
That would place the front of the new Houston-Love Library on North Oates Street.
"This is a very viable plan," Said Barbaree " I think it's doable and i think this is the least expensive way to give the taxpayers of Dothan what they desire and that is a library that they can be proud of."
The new site would mean the relocation of several businesses on Oates street, and negotiations with property owners have the bill for the land at 1.42 million dollars.
Plans are attached to this article.
