New Brockton could soon be seeing its first commercial development on the new Highway 84 bypass.
Dollar General has picked out a location at the corner of Tyler Street and the Highway 84 bypass.
Mayor Lenwood Herron is looking forward to the addition because he says it will bring in tax revenue, serve the people in that area, and will hopefully attract even more businesses to open along the Highway 84 corridor.
"It represents a new opportunity for the Town of New Brockton it represents a lot of hope a lot of folks are very excited and this is the first one in approximately 25 years as far as a new retail chain store located in the Town of New Brockton," says Mayor Herron.
The land is currently zoned for agriculture, but the town council is holding a public hearing Monday to discuss rezoning it and much of the land along the Highway 84 corridor to commercial.
