The attorney for a man known as the D.C. sniper is trying to save his client's life.
John Allen Muhammad is set to be executed November 10th.
His attorney claims his client is mentally ill and his life should be spared.
Muhammad was indicted in Alabama for capital murder for the shooting death of two Alabama Beverage Control Employees.
Muhammad and his teenage accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo are also suspected in a fatal shooting spree across three states that left 10 people dead in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.
There are two options that can save Muhammad's life. Virginia governor Tim Kaine can grant clemency and commute Muhammad's death sentence to life in prison, or the supreme court can grant a stay of execution.
Both have up until the very last moment to make a decision.
