A two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon in Houston County sent a Gordon woman and two children to the hospital. Vanessa Lashay Pender, 28, Gordon and two children were traveling south on Old U.S. 84 in a 2003 Ford Focus and Sandra Lynn Blunt, 43, Dothan, was traveling west on U.S. 84 in a 2003 Nissan when she struck Pender’s vehicle.

Initial investigation indicates that Pender’s vehicle failed to yield the right of way to Blunt’s vehicle. Pender and her five year old passenger were restrained but the three year old who was unrestrained in the backseat was ejected. All three occupants were transported to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center where they are being treated for injuries they sustained in the crash. Mrs. Blunt was also treated for non- life threatening injuries.

Agencies assisting in the 3:19 pm crash that occurred 1 mile east of Ashford were the Houston County Sheriff’s Department, Ashford Police Department and the Ashford Rescue squad.
