MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's unemployment rate fell slightly in April to 3.3 percent, with 57-hundred jobs added over the previous month.

Governor Bob Riley said the state's good economic picture can be enhanced even more if voters approve a proposed constitutional amendment June 5th to increase Alabama's economic incentives fund by 400 million dollars.

The increase will be used at least in part to provide some of the incentives that helped convince German steelmaker ThyssenKrupp to locate a sprawling steel plant in Mobile County.

The jobless rate for April was down from 3.4 percent in March and the 3.5 percent recorded in April a year ago. The state Department of Industrial Relations said the comparable national rate for April 2007 was 4.5 percent.

Shelby County had the lowest unemployment rate at 1.8 percent, followed by Baldwin and Blount counties at 2 percent.

Wilcox had the highest rate at 6.8 percent, followed by Perry at 6.1 percent and Bullock at 5.8 percent.
