The program is geared toward high school students interested in airplane technology.

A program in Henry County schools is reaching new heights thanks to a partnership between the school system and Enterprise Ozark Community College.

Henry County Schools' Superintendent Dennis Coe said, "Students interested in the aviation field can take 2 courses, 2 years of this program and they all count toward their A and P License."

Future projections show an increased need for aviation school graduates in the next few years.

Coe said, "We are anticipating a 25 percent growth in this industry in this area so you would assume we need 25 percent more workers and right now we can't provide that many workers to this field."

The program is helping students interested in the aviation field to get one of a kind, hands on training which is helping with job placement.

Headland High School Principal Wiley Smith said, "If they stay with the program and complete high school and EOCC they are just about guaranteed a job because there is a shortage in this area."

Starting salary for workers graduating with this type of aviation degree from EOCC is $40,000.

If you're enrolled in Henry County schools and would like to get involved in the program you may contact Abbeville or Headland high schools.
