I would like to know if Mrs. Jennifer Kovach (wife of Michael Kovach) who works with the Alabama Department of Agriculture (Inspection Division in Headland) has been arrested also for the abuse and neglect of the horses yet. If she hasn't, I would not be surprised at all if she and Mr. Kovach led authorities to believe some sort of sympathetic excuse for her "reason" for letting the horses health deteriorate so badly and distorted the truth about co-ownership of the horses in hopes she would not be charged and arrested. She is getting away with a very serious digusting crime. Why couldn't their son 25 yrs of age for whom some of the horses were purchased for taken care of them? He lives right there too. I'm sure there will be many people who will want to adopt these rescued mistreated animals and care for them as they deserve. I've taken food for the horses to the vet's office and I hope others will do the same. Shame on the Kovachs!!! Disgusting!!!
I would like to know if the authorities checked out their dogs (boxers) which are kept inside their home most of the time. This is an extremely pitiful case. His wife, Jenny Kovach should receive more punishment than the law allows since she had to have seen the horses on a daily basis. These people do not lack for anything materially: This is not speculation or a judgemental statement: it is a fact which I know.
Both he and his wife should be ordered by a judge to pay any and all expenses for the care, treatments, medications, boarding, everything else involved in the horses recovery, including surgery if is needed to repair the one horse's leg that is crooked to the veternarian who is treating them. If any one knows why the wife and any others in the household were not arrested,I would like to know. I would appreciate it if your station would explain.
Thank u for covering the horse abuse/neglect case in Newton.This really strikes a cord with me.Why do people do this to their animals?!I've read several internet sites on this unbelievable story and, Mr. D.A., I humbly ask u to investigate Jennifer Kovach FURTHER and you WILL discover an arrest warrant 4 her is justifiable.Thank God the neighbors had the courage to take a stand knowing that it might cause trouble between them and the Kovachs.Special thanks 2 the investigator and the vet for their efforts and service.The vet is so gracious 4 treating and noursishing the horses back to health.I am not a zealot like the people of PETA, however,I do believe that people are responsible for taking care of their animals/pets: simply feeding, watering, and tending to any sustained injuries and diseases. Authorities should not fall for ANY of their sobbing manipulative excuses 4 this atrocity.BOTH of their families need 2 be asked by authorities concerning past abuses; not just animal abuse.
MAYBE MICHAEL KOVACK SHOULD BE FED ONCE A WEEK AND SEE HOW HE LIKES IT.
Kovach has only been working in Georgia 4 years and only on school days. His horses have been neglected for many more years than that. I know it has been reported periodically for at least 15 years but no shelter would accept reports on horses. In that many years lots more than 7 horses have been neglected. Anyone who walked out their door and saw several emaciated and miserable horses every day should share responsibility for allowing the conditions to continue.
Kovach only lives in Georgia during the week teaching school while very often coming home during the week and always comes home on Fridays and stays the entire weekend often leaving for Georgia early on Monday mornings. He had to have known the condition of his horses just as his wife and and son did. Don't understand why his wife who lives in their house in Newton and sees the horses doesn't have any charges files against her.
Thank you wtvy for posting this on your site. I watched last night for coverage of it and it wasn't covered.I ask that it be broadcast over your station and is followed carefully as it is a public outsry. This is outragrous. These people,wife included, Jenny Kovach employed with Alabama State Inspection Service is there at their house every day and does not live in Georgia as does her husband charged. She is most probaly co-owner of the horses and should be held accoutable as her husband. These people are not destitute; far from it. Her husband is taking the rap for her as well, possibly for their mid-twenty year son as well. How could these people sit down and eat a meal knowing that those poor animals being right in front of their house were starving? I hope the D.A. takes another look into filing charges against the wife. It is justifiable.
