Esther B. Watford Meredith died Friday, April 25, 2008 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. She was 84.
Funeral services for Mrs. Meredith will be 11 A.M. Monday, April 28, 2008 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Newton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Ward Wilson Funeral Home.
The family will be accepting friends one hour prior to service time on Monday at the church. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Mrs. Meredith was born in Houston County on October 23, 1923, the daughter of the late Walter W. Watford, Sr. and Delphia Ann Skinner Watford. She was a woman of strong faith and always had a good outlook on life. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Her true joy came from being with her family. She also loved to quilt and write poetry.
She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Frank Meredith, sisters, Innez Cobb and Eula Mae McCall, brothers; Grady Watford and Harmon Watford.
Mrs. Meredith leaves behind to cherish her memories daughters; Virginia Driggers of Dothan, Ann Davis and her husband Wendell of Dothan, Christine Day and her husband Jim of Dothan, sons; Rodney Meredith and his wife Paula of Dothan, Ricky Meredith and his wife Vicki of Dothan, Randy Meredith and his wife Lynn of Headland, sisters; Eura B. Baell of Sarasota, FL, Hazel Andring of Lowerburrell, PA, Gwendolyn Bruner of Winter Haven, FL, Ruth Hand and her husband Reverend Clarence Hand of Brandon, FL, Meyrlyn Kirkland and her husband Byron of Jacksonville, FL, brother, Walter Watford, Jr, and his wife Armetta (Bill) of Panama City, FL, Eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be; Mark Meredith, Lance Meredith, Jay Hutto, Chris Alexander, Andy Watford, and Mervin Barnes.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Extendicare for the care they gave to Mrs. Meredith.
