Alfred W. Watford died Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Flowers Hospital.
He was 86.
Funeral services for Mr. Watford will be 3 P.M. Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Mt. Enon Baptist Church with the Reverends Bobby Anderson, Eddie Biss and Jefrey Wood officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Ward Wilson Funeral Home.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home tonight from 6 to 8 P.M. Flowers will be accepted.
Mr. Watford was born December 2, 1921, the son of the late Travis W. Watford and Vassie Pearl Butler. He was very active at Mt. Enon Church; he served as deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and usher for over thirty years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved the Lord and that was evident by his faithfulness to his church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 61 years, Dorothy Watford.
Mr. Watford leaves behind to cherish his memories, daughters, Margaret Brown of Peachtree City, GA, Judy Rhodes and her husband Kenneth of Cottonwood, and Kathy Newman of Dothan, grandchildren; Lisa Leigh of Manhattan, NY, Glen Brown of Peachtree City, GA, Lee Rhodes and his wife Kim of Dothan, Melinda McKenna and her husband Eric of Pinckard, Derrick Newman and his wife Tiffany of Clarksville, TN, Lori Newman of Dothan, Great-grandchildren; Shelby and Gage Rhodes of Dothan, Whitney and Rosie McKenna of Pinckard, Emma Newman of Clarksville, TN, sisters; Gladys Phillips of Graceville, FL, Alice Gail Clements of Cottondale, FL, brothers; Wade Watford of Brandon, FL, Carl Wilburn Watford of Cottondale, FL, brother-in-laws, Robert Watkins, Bobby Watkins, Grady Watkins and his wife Kaye, James Watkins and his wife Linda, Sister-in-laws; Vermell Carter, Evelyn Watford, Shirley Moss and her husband Buford, and Mary Bruce.
Pallbearers will be Glen Brown, Lee Rhodes, Derrick Newman, Jason Watford, Eric McKenna, Lamar Watford, and Kenneth Moss.
