| Nina Sue Tharpe Solomon, age 75, of Newton, died Thursday morning, July 2, 2009, at her home. Funeral services will be 3:30 P. M. Sunday, July 5, 2009, in the Chapel of Holman Funeral Home in Ozark with Pastor Randy Adams officiating. Interment will follow in Mabson United Methodist Church Cemetery, Holman Funeral Home of Ozark directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 P.M. Sunday until service time. Mrs. Solomon was born May 8, 1934 in Dale County to the late William Henry Tharpe Pearlie Estelle Spurlock Tharpe. She attended the Ozark City Schools. Mrs. Solomon worked with The Van Heusen Corp. for 20 years and then with Michelin Tire Corp. for 16 years until her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, and was an avid Alabama fan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Downs and her husband, Joe Downs, and Joanne Ingram; one brother, Travis Tharpe and his wife, Martha. Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Solomon of Newton; two daughters, Dianne and Don Judah of Ozark, Pat Sauls (James Greggs) of Youngstown, Florida, five sons, Earl and Vivian Ward of Skipperville, Mitch and Lisa Solomon of Troy, Paul Solomon of Houston, Texas, Scott Solomon of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, and Danny Solomon of Andalusia, Alabama; four sisters, Pearl Asodi of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, Christian (PJ) Hinmon of Ozark, Sheila Tharpe Tyree of Anniston, and Dorothy Kelley of Huntsville; one brother and sister-in-law, Norman and Maxine Tharpe of Ozark; brother-in-law, Truman F. Ingram of Ozark; eleven grandchildren, Wendy (Van) Shiver of Ozark, Cindy (Corey) Bolton of Newton, Monica (Johnny) Watson of Skipperville, Jarrod (Wendi) Ward of Skipperville, Chris Judah of Dothan, Ashley Solomon and A. J. Solomon of Troy, Hannah Solomon of Slocomb, Mallory Solomon and Elizabeth Solomon of Webster, New York; ten great grandchildren, Sam Shiver, Taylor Shiver, Joey Bolton, Brady Bolton, Noah Bolton, Sierra Watson, Hunter Watson, Haddan Ward, Rylie Ward, and Courtney Heinlein. | |
