| Charmaine White Carter of Enterprise passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Medical Center Enterprise. She was 54. Funeral services will be 10 am Friday, August 7 at Sorrells Funeral Home of Enterprise with Rev. Glenn Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5 until 7 pm. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contribution may be made to Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 7669, Atlanta, GA 30357-0669. Mrs. Carter was born July 27, 1955 in Dothan, AL. She grew up in a family owned and operated grocery store on the Geneva Highway and currently worked at the Coffee County Board of Registrars. An avid musician, cook and gardener, Mrs. Carter studied Criminal Justice and Psychology at the University of New Mexico and Troy University. She traveled extensively in Southeast Asia and Europe, and lived in Korea and Turkey. A devoted mother and engaged citizen, her motto was, “Don’t complain, get involved and fix it.” She served as Neighborhood Chairman, International Girl Scouts, Seoul, Korea and Izmir, Turkey. She was Baseball Commissioner for American Youth Activities in Izmir, Turkey and a sports official with the Izmir Professional Official’s Association, for baseball and slow-pitch softball, and high school volleyball. She was past President of Coffee County Republican Women, and a member of the Coffee County Republican Committee and the Alabama State Republican Committee. She was also past President of Enterprise Music Club, past Committee Chairman and Den Leader, Cub Scout Pack 49, Saint John’s, Enterprise and held multiple offices in the Ft. Rucker Officer’s Wives Club and Enterprise Study Club. She was currently Vice-President of the Enterprise Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association. Survivors include her husband, William Lee Carter; her son, William Justin Carter; her daughter, JoAnna Carter Lee; her brother, Roger LeDon White, and several nieces and nephews.
