| Gay Lynn Thornton Tyler, age 39, went to live with our Heavenly Savior on Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 7:10 p.m. from Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama. Gay Lynn was born March 16, 1970 to Gary and Sandra Thornton of Enterprise (Mt. Pleasant community). She attended Enterprise City Schools, Enterprise State Junior College, and the University of Montevallo where she excelled in both music and academics. She received her Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Troy State University. She was presently employed as an academic enrichment teacher for the Enterprise City School System. Gay Lynn was preceded in death by her father, Gary Parrish Thornton of Enterprise, and grandparents, Gilbert and Norma Ruth Thornton, also of Enterprise, and Walter “Dub” and Gussie Royals of Headland, Alabama. Survivors include: her twins, Catherine Elizabeth and Cameron Thorn Crowe of Enterprise; her mother, Sandra Royals Thornton of Enterprise; husband, Scott Tyler of Enterprise; the father of her children, Dennis Wayne Crowe II of Troy; sisters, Leah D. Oppert (Gary) of Dothan and Julie A. Allen (Eddie) of Birmingham. Other survivors include nieces and nephews: Garrison Cole Oppert of Dothan, and Edward Thornton Allen and Victoria Rose Allen of Birmingham; aunts and uncle, Sherri Lynn Royals and Lamar and Wanda Thornton of Enterprise. Many loving cousins and dear friends also survive. The family will receive visitors at the home of Gay Lynn’s mother, Sandra Thornton, 249 Windsor Gardens Drive, Enterprise. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 25, 2009 from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Enterprise. The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant following visitation with Reverend Steve Bruce, Reverend Phil Cooley, and Reverend Fox Fleming officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the “Lynn Thornton Tyler Fund” for the Enterprise City School System to purchase teaching supplies for elementary classrooms. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the numerous family, friends, and prayer warriors who came, who called, and who prayed. Special appreciation is sent to Drs. Woodham and Voss and the CCU nursing staff at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan. Gay Lynn’s beautiful first soprano voice is now a member of the Heavenly Choir.
