A number of Wiregrass businesses are banning together to help local teachers and school children prepare for a productive 2008-2009 school year.

They are asking for your help by dropping off school supplies at any of the listed drop-off locations on your screen.

The Wiregrass School Supply Drive began July 1st and will continue until the beginning of the school year.

Individuals can help by simply purchasing a few supplies or by purchasing several extra supplies when shopping for their own school children.

"Starting in Houston County obviously and if it continues to grow then we'll branch out throughout the entire Wiregrass area. We're going to focus here initially but who knows. It may be overwhelming and we might be able to head out to all the outlying counties," said Dr. Craig Schmidtke.

Supplies will be distributed on a needed basis.

Principals or teachers of local schools should contact the Wiregrass School Supply Drive at 475-0616 in order to find out how they can collect supplies for their students.
