HOOVER, Ala. (AP) - Lawyers for a former Alabama football booster say they handed a subpoena to Tennessee football coach Phillip Fulmer as he arrived at the annual Southeastern Conference football media days in suburban Birmingham.

But Fulmer repeatedly denied being given anything at the SEC event Thursday.

Brandon Blankenship, a lawyer for former Alabama booster Wendell Smith, says Fulmer was handed the subpoena by a process server as
the coach stepped out of an SUV at the hotel. Fulmer told reporters he didn't get any such papers.

Attorneys have been seeking Fulmer's sworn statements in a lawsuit filed by Smith against the NCAA.
